First brought together for a last minute playing engagement, Josh Smiley (piano), Ilios Steryannis (drums) and Bennett Young (bass) found an instant kinship in musical taste, technical acumen and joyful expression. 

A chance conversation about a lesser known but highly inspirational recording by Roy Haynes (featuring the genius Phineas Newborn Jr.) entitled "We Three" sparked an idea. 

We 3 was born, paying homage to the great piano trios of the jazz tradition.
